A HUMBLE BEGINNING
Jessie and Bertha Fleck founded Cherry Street Mission Ministries in 1947, their calling was to provide people in need with sustenance for the body and nourishment for the soul. Named for its location on Cherry Street in Toledo, the mission provided meals, shelter, and the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the poor and homeless.
We’ve gone from a single facility to Cherry Street Mission Ministries which encompasses over 15 facilities within 6 neighborhoods serving over 400 people everyday. We are the largest organization serving low-income and homeless men, women, and children in the 14 counties of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
A NEW LEVEL OF SERVICE
Cherry Street has expanded from providing basic services of food, clothing, and shelter to include purposeful and transformational mentoring through Biblically-based programs. At our newly acquired Life Revitalization Center, God is calling us to a new level of service by collaborating with our community to offer education, training, and job placement.
The first of many collaborations and partners include Penta Career Center who now holds GED classes within the Life Revitalization Center. Classes are open to Cherry Street guests as well as members of our community. These collaborations will be built on the heritage established by Jesse and Bertha Fleck so long ago: creating an environment of redemption and transformation through the message of Jesus Christ.
