TOLEDO, Ohio – Following a nearly year-long, nationwide search, Cherry Street Mission Ministries has selected Dr. Wes Modder as chief executive officer of the organization.
Modder has a strong background in mission-driven leadership and a vibrant personal faith life to balance the strategic and executional skills that will advance Cherry Street. He is passionate about Cherry Street’s important work of restoring respect and dignity to all God’s children.
Modder brings extensive experience in compassionate pastoral care, counseling and mentoring in diverse and unconventional settings to people of all walks of life. He has more than 30 years of pastoral experience and mission-driven leadership, and he is 21-years retired U.S. Navy minister and former Marine. His academic background includes a bachelor’s degree, Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry, all in Pastoral Studies. Most recently, Modder was the founder and lead pastor at Rock Church in metro Chicago.
“After much discussion and prayer, the board of Cherry Street is pleased that we have found our new CEO in Dr. Modder. His credentials and experience make him the right person to lead this ministry into its next chapter,” said Don Smucker, board chairman for Cherry Street Mission Ministries.
As CEO, Modder will oversee the overall vision, strategy and financial wellness of the Ministry and ensure that all aspects of Cherry Street are properly stewarded by a talented and committed staff and volunteers. He officially assumes the role on Feb. 3.
“Through conversation with Dr. Modder, it was clear he felt called to Cherry Street and is the right person to work alongside our staff to fulfill the organization’s mission of rescuing the downtrodden, restoring hope to the hopeless and releasing God’s greatness to our community,” said Josh Rochon, vice-chairman of Cherry Street’s board and leader of the selection committee.
